Goodbye Marsh Children

Saying goodbye to the Marsh's wasn't easy...none of them were easy, but for some reason this one hit me hard. Maybe because each of them wrote me such a personal thank you note. Kenny even wrote a goodbye song and played it for me at his last lesson.

Goodbye Jack

Jack and I were making silly faces as we said goodbye. Jack gave me some big hydrangea flowers to say goodbye.

Emoji Coin Purse

Congratulations to Ida for being the first piano student to win her Emoji coin purse.  She practiced 50 times since we started.  Most weeks she practice two times a day but this week she practiced three times a day!  She now can carry her pennies 4 practice in her emoji coin purse to lessons instead of a plastic bag.  Yea! Ida.

Lillian's Accomplishment

Congratulations to Lillian on finishing her first CD!  She picked 10 pieces from her lesson book, practiced them well, and then we recorded them at my Lakewood piano studio.

The artwork on the CD cover is her original art.

The pieces on the CD are:

Track 1 - Scales My Way
Track 2 - Quiet Thoughts
Track 3 - Pirates at Sea
Track 4 - Medieval Fair
Track 5 - Science Fair
Track 6 - Rhythm Mania
Track 7 - Floating Down the River
Track 8 - Premier Boogie
Track 9 - Inspector Beauregard
Track 10 - Fiesta de Espana

What was favorite part of making the CD? Making the artwork was my favorite.
What was your favorite piece on the CD? Inspector Beauregard because I like the melody.
She enjoyed the process of making the CD and look forward to sharing the CD with her family.  She may email the CD to them.
How long did it take you perfect these piece to be CD ready?  Some I had to relearn and some I had to just brush up on so it was different times for piece.
Do you recommend that other students make a CD of their favorite piano pieces?  She said "yes"!

The CD is eight minutes in length.

Lillian studies piano at Cindy's Piano Studio in Bemus Point. Great job, Lillian!

Practice Chains

What are these paper circles? Practice chains! Last week students taped a chain of 7 links to their piano. Each day they practiced they tore off a link and brought the remaining links to their lesson this week. There were a few who practiced all 7 days and so no links from them. One more week to see who gets ice cream after the recital. Several are already qualified! Yum yum

Another Successful Recital

Congratulations, Alex, on a successful End-of-Book Recital.  This second one really shows the progress you have made at the piano.  Great Job!

Alex played ten pieces today from Hal Leonard Piano Lessons Book 2.  They included:

Jig, Pop, Inspector Hound, A Little Latin, Quiet Thoughts, Brass Fanfare, Watercolors, Carmen's Tune, and Ode to Joy.

She let me play three duets with her!  And, she played three pieces with the Midi orchestration.

Excellent job.  Here's a one-minute video snapshot.

New Student Andee

Cindy's Piano Studio Bemus Point welcomes Andee to piano lessons.

Seven-year-old Andee started piano lessons on January 5, 2017.  She just wanted something to do! She is involved in 4H and gymnastics but needed more activity in her life.  Andee is learning piano with the Alfred Premier method and we are using Piano Maestro a lot as well.  She has learned so much already.  I look forward to seeing what we will do together at the piano.  Welcome, Andee!

Mallory's First End-of-Book Recital a Success!

Congratulations, Mallory, on successfully completing your first End-of-Book Recital this weekend.

Mallory had her first End-of-Book recital at her home last night.  She had about 20 people standing and listening and clapping.  What an awesome memory we made.
Here's her invitation and program.  She even let me participate with a duet!  Awesome job, Mallory!

New Piano Student, Jax

Cindy's Piano Studio welcomes Jax to the Bemus Point studio

Cindy's Piano Studio welcomed Jax to piano lessons on January 4, 2017.  Jax just turned five years old.  Jax will be using the Faber's My First Piano Adventures to begin with.  During his first lesson he learned about the "great pose" which just means he learned how to sit at the piano.  In the picture he is balancing Tweety on his head for 10 seconds.  He did a great job and Tweety didn't have to fly off because he never dropped him even when I asked him to turn his head towards the camera!
