Jamestown Association of Piano Teachers Recital at Lutheran Home

Today was the first Association of Piano Teachers' recital at the Lutheran Home in the Chapel.  Cindy's Piano Studio had nine students participating.  That's half of the students from CPS!  They all did a great job playing their pieces.  For three of the students, this was their first recital.

Stephanie Derkovitz played Love Somebody.

Maddison March played Old MacDonald Had a Band.

Harper Dawes played Gallop, Pony and Scotland Bells.

Lizzy Quadt played Go Tell Aunt Rhodie Theme and Variation.

Sydney Segrue played Arabesque by Burgmuller.

Our mystery student played Sea (C) Song.

Sophia Segrue played Taxi Tangle.

Eliza Dawes played Japaneze Garden and Jazz Jig.

Sarah Quadt played Beach Party and Pumpkin Boogie.

It was a short program as half the pieces were less than 30 seconds in length!  It was such a pretty sunny day too.  All the students received a certificate of participation at the end.  Here's Sophie's...

Today's participating students live in Chautauqua County, mostly in the Bemus Point area, some in Lakewood and Ashville; none from Jamestown today.

Not sure if your child will like piano lessons?  Sign up for a FREE piano class where your child will experience the fun of piano and learn to play three pieces. This two-hour class will introduce them to the very basics of piano and what is required to learn to play piano. A snack will be provided.

Paper Staff Creation

Harper's mom was sitting in the kitchen talking with her sister-in-law when Harper called her in to see what she had made. A staff from paper she cut out along with notes! Her mom says, thanks for making music so fun for the girls.  Wow! This is just cool!  What a creative activity to come up with all by herself.  I'm looking forward to what she'll do in the days to come.

I love it when students are so excited about piano that they have to have a doll with piano music.  This one has letter names instead of music notes because she doesn't know how to read music yet.  But if she keeps coming to piano lessons with Mallory and practicing with her at home, she will quickly learn.  Maybe the next piano book she brings will have have some music notes for you to read!

Candy Corn Challenge Champs!

The Candy Corn Challenge is complete!

During the last two weeks of October students were challenged to reassemble candy corn with the correct letter name, place on the staff, and place on the keyboard.

It's getting chilly outside and so I thought it was time to decorate the studio a little.  Just a few orange and green and rust colored decorations to make it feel more festive and welcoming.

It will be just right for our Fall Festival Recital this Saturday.  Eight families will be represented in the recital.
